Friends of Spiers Garnock Valley Conservation Awards
The Friends of Spiers (FoS) have celebrated the conservation work carried out at Spiers by groups based in the Garnock Valley. The Friends have awarded the FoS Cup and certificates at an award ceremony held in the Spiers parklands.
The FoS Cup was awarded to Youth Making Beith Better (YMBB) and certicates were also presented by Fergus Highgate (FoS Chairman) to the pupils of Gateside Primary, Geilsland School, Beith out of School Care, and the YKG youth group from Kilbirnie.
Over fifty people attended the event, including proud parents, FoS supporters, Gateside Primary headteacher Fiona Dunlop, and local Councillors Anthea Dickson, John Bell and Jean Highgate. The event took place on a superb day and the perfect accompaniment was a sausage and burger sizzle.
The FoS Conservation Awards are an annual event and are judged by the FoS Committee based on the contributions made by 'groups' to the rejuvenation of the Spier's Old School Grounds.
