Astroturf
Great to see work start on upgrading the surface. It will be a massive benefit to the community. Well done to Jean Highgate and John Bell for geting this done.

Thanks Graham!!!
We would echo all of that and would also add thanks to Councillor Anthea Dickson who put in considerable amount of time brokering discussions between Beith Community Development Trust and NAC.
There has been a lot of hard work from all the sports clubs and teams in the town, Beith Juniors, Beith Amateurs and Beith Juniors community club. We would also like to thank the local businesses who have contributed time, skills and money towards a successful project
Volunteers, coaches, parents, boys and girls have all pulled together and done their bit to bring this dream facility to Beith and through their membership of Beith Community Development Trust who will be managing the facility, they will have a say in how it can benefit the community of Beith as a whole
Well done Beith!!
I thought it was the council who were upgrading the Astroturf.
What else is happening? Is this Trust buying the pitch after its upgraded?
Graham
It is the council who are upgrading the pitches. The Community Trust are planning to take over the management and running of the facilities when the work is completed.
So great news for local clubs that the council have made this investment, and a great opportunity for the Community Trust to provide some further improvements when they take over the running.
Quite right Dan, the council have provided the intial investment for the synthetic pitch and the Development Trust are providing the resources for the first phase of installing 2 training pitchs between Bellsdale and Meadowside. Its all part of a project which will see the full facility move over to community management once the works are completed. As we said before it has taken a great deal of work and effort to bring it all to this stage from everyone involved, and it is a credit to them to see it coming together.
If anyone wants to know more or get involved contact Beithfootball@hotmail.com or through Facebook @ Beith Community FC
Thank you for clearing that up Dan. As you say its good the council are making this investment. Why cant it continue to be run by the council how can this group just take it over. I have heard a number of concerns about the viability of this trust and that they are going to hike up the charges to cover their costs. Will the council take steps to retain ownership of the pitch to make sure that it doesnt become houses if the group go bust.
Remember that news doesn't just mean crime and politics – a golden wedding, a new baby, or a personal achievement are news to any community.
