2012-13 Community Projects at Spier's
The NAC Garnock Valley Ranger is co-ordinating a number of groups who are all working this year on the restoration, maintenance, and improvement of the Garnock Valley amenity that is the Spier's Old School grounds.
Don't worry if you see some self-seeded or diseased trees being felled or hedgerows being restored, for around 400 trees are being planted by the Valley's young people this year, not to forget the Friends of Spiers Memorial and Celebratory Tree plantings run by Fergus Highgate.
Nature reclaims her own very quickly and the Rhododendrons for instance will be back and flowering before you can blink!
Apart from FoS, other groups and the contacts involved so far are Youth Making Beith Better (Jane Sutherland), Garnock Academy (Mr Nimmo), the Outreach team (Mr Hasler), Beith Primary (Miss Clark), the Activity Agreement group (Stewart Beck), Community Services (Jamie Cook), and Ranger Service Volunteers Iain and Derek.
