The Cuff Hill Lochan
On the south facing slope of Cuff Hill is a small lochan in very picturesque surroundings.
The 19th century Ordnance Survey map clearly shows this lochan and the number of whinstone quarries nearby suggest that it may be artificial. At some point it has been deepend and adapted to act as a small reservoir, probably supplying water to The Cuff Farm that is located below it.
It is rich in wildlife, Hawker Dragonflies being a special feature. The rare plant, White Climbing Fumitory, was noted growing on gorse nearby.
