Hello John,
I take it that you have read all the news about the Friends of Spiers? We welcome support and would like to hear from more Old Spierians.
I was delighted to come across your page, John, and I look forward to entries from other Old Spierians.
My entire schooling was at Spier's but I went off to Australia in 1953. Nonetheless in various trips "back home" I visited Spier's School. The first time, in 1960, Mr Fairley was the Headmaster and he mentioned that the original endowment was then such that the school could again be run as a private school. Later visits over the years saw the school no longer in operation and in my last visit the building had disappeared.
I have not kept in touch with any of my former classmates because of time and distance but surprisingly I bumped into one - David Golightly - in Sydney many years ago.
John, you do not indicate the years you were at Spier's and although I recall a McMillan or two I cannot bring you to mind.
Regards,
John A. Law.
