Beith is a former textile town east of Kilbirnie Loch and 19 miles south west of Glasgow in the Garnock Valley, North Ayrshire. The A737 to Irvine bypasses the town and the nearest railway station is Glengarnock. The Reverend John Witherspoon, a signatory of the American Declaration of Independence, was a minister here and Dr Henry Faulds, who developed fingerprinting, was born here in 1843. Stevenson and Higgins cabinet works were founded here in the 19th century, and Royal Navy armaments depot DM Beith lies to the south. Beith has a strong community of around 6200 people and s1beith.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, make announcements, publicise events and show off their photos and videos.

Growing up in Beith. A video by Scott Ferguson.

I wanted to make something, albeit quickly, about things that people aspire to in their childhood days. I think most of us grow up and forget the names and places until we hear a word we haven't heard in years and then it spirals from there.
